{"id":1336,"date":"2024-10-07T21:57:11","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T21:57:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idylliclounge.co.nz\/~rivet\/?p=1336"},"modified":"2024-11-27T23:31:25","modified_gmt":"2024-11-27T23:31:25","slug":"an-award-winning-new-taranaki-health-building-attracting-attention-from-around-the-globe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/idylliclounge.co.nz\/~rivet\/an-award-winning-new-taranaki-health-building-attracting-attention-from-around-the-globe\/","title":{"rendered":"An award\u2013winning new Taranaki health building attracting attention from around the globe"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"1336\" class=\"elementor elementor-1336\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1a85b43a elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1a85b43a\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3f6f264b\" data-id=\"3f6f264b\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6960b064 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6960b064\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Te Huhi Raup\u014d (The Taranaki Renal Unit), designed to give patients a warm and inviting functional treatment space, is a work of art.<\/p><p>It has won the European Healthcare Design Awards, The Green Building Design New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards and the public architecture Western Architecture Awards 2023.<\/p><p>Many aspects of the space were created using the generosity of in-kind donations including the more aesthetic aspects of the space, and the unit\u2019s award winning external stainless steel artwork.<\/p><p>\u201cA dollar raised or a dollar saved has the same benefit,\u201d says Adrian Sole, General Manager, Taranaki Health Foundation. \u201cSome of the nice finer details that make a big difference to staff wellbeing and patient enjoyment get cut because the funds have to go into functional stuff.\u201d<\/p><p>Taranaki crafted sheet metal engineers Rivet Ltd gave life to artwork designed to be showcased on the building\u2019s exterior.<\/p><p>\u201cRivet have been involved with the Foundation since 2016, first involved with the mobility garden and now this latest project here at the renal unit,\u201d says Steve Scott, Rivet Ltd Managing Director. \u201cWe always look to support things that support families and our community.<\/p><p>\u201cWe get involved very early on and the artist knew what they wanted, they wanted to use a material that was particular to Taranaki and to the hospital, of course that\u2019s stainless steel.<\/p><p>\u201cWe were able to take his concept sketches and turn them into a design that would suit our profile cutting and then make them out of some stainless steel. The material fits, so does the theme behind it and the story that the artist wanted to create follows right through the building as well.\u201d Light fabrication is the art of the engineering world, Steve says.<\/p><p>\u201cOur guys are quite artistic so to take a little bit of what we\u2019ve done at places such as The Len Lye Centre, which is purely art, and to splash it around here, we\u2019re really proud.\u201d Rivet Ltd are also responsible for crafting The Len Lye Centre\u2019s waved mirror-finish exterior steel work. Considering making in-kind donations is something Steve and Adrian both encourage businesses to consider.<\/p><p>Steve and Adrian encourage other businesses to consider in-kind donations.<\/p><p>\u201cIt\u2019s about all of us pitching in, helping clients, just having a go and making a difference,\u201d Steve says. Taranaki Health Foundation partners have been giving in-kind donations since 2013, Adrian says. \u201cIt\u2019s a real testament to the community that they\u2019re leaving these legacies.
